Charlotte Family Photographer | Smith Family

Last month I held a family session giveaway over facebook, and chose one winner for every 100 entries. I ended up having two winners as a result, and Karen Smith was one of my two winners! I was so excited to break the news to her that she had won this family photo session valued at $1,625, my highest all-digital package for noncommercial portrait sessions. Karen was thrilled to have won, and it was incredible working as the Charlotte family photographer for her and her family.

Never have I met such a caring and patient family, so willing to let their children play and be themselves. I personally love to capture children and families as they are, and keep posing to a minimum if possible. The children played and we all got to know each other over the course of the photoshoot.

Karen and her husband Kenn met back in grade school, and their love for one another was apparent when they were recalling their wedding day and the times since then. Their two kids love to be playful with another, and both were happy to be outside and play. Their little girl loves her bunny, Princess, and of course brought the stuffed animal along for the session.

The Smith Family photos were effortless and magical. The sun peeked through the trees for a magical backlighting, and the forest diffused the light in a stunning way. Take a look below at some of my favorites from their gallery.
